What is a private order?

A private order allows you to place an order for a limited edition item before it has been produced.

The McQ Alexander McQueen FW12 runway collection is available exclusively at NET-A-PORTER and gives you the chance to have a piece of fashion history made especially for you.

How long do I have to place a private order?

To avoid missing out on owning a piece from this exquisite collection, place your private order by midday Wednesday, May 23. Items will not be available for private order or purchase on the website after this date.

PLACING A PRIVATE ORDER:

Will I receive an order confirmation after I have placed a private order?

As this collection is an exclusive collaboration with McQ Alexander McQueen, you won't receive our usual order confirmation email. Instead, a fashion advisor will contact you personally to make sure your details and the sizes selected are correct. They will then place your order directly with McQ Alexander McQueen and send you an email to confirm this.

What is the best size for me?

As the McQ Alexander McQueen item will be produced especially for you, we won't be able to offer you an exchange if the size is unsuitable.

To help you choose the right size, each piece has detailed information on size and fit as well as measurements on the product pages. Feel free to discuss your choice in more depth when our fashion advisor contacts you.

Can I change my size or add items to my private order?

You can amend your order until Thursday, May 24. Please notify our fashion advisors of any changes when they contact you to confirm your details. Alternatively, you can update your private order by calling +1 800 471 9303 from 8am-8pm weekdays and 9am-5.30pm weekends, or by emailing mcq.usa@net-a-porter.com.

Is there a limit on the number of pieces I can buy?

You can place a private order for as many items as you like. However, due to the exclusivity of this collection, you are restricted to purchasing one unit of each style.

Can I place an order over the telephone?

Simply call our fashion advisors at +1 800 471 9303 from 8am-8pm weekdays and 9am-5.30pm weekends, or email mcq.usa@net-a-porter.com and they will process your private order for you.

Why is my private order not showing in my shopping bag?

Your private order is not visible in your shopping bag because your order is placed with McQ Alexander McQueen rather than directly through our website.

Can I combine a private order item with other products on the website?

As your private order is shipped as soon as we receive it from McQ Alexander McQueen, we are unable to combine it with an order placed on NET-A-PORTER.

Can I track my private order?

Once your private order has been dispatched and is on its way to you, you will be able to follow its progress as normal. We will advise you at this time if any applicable taxes and duties have increased or decreased due to the new destination address of your private order.

Do any items have shipping restrictions?

Please note that items containing fur or exotic skins may have shipping restrictions to certain countries. Products which have these restrictions will be indicated on the product pages. In order to still purchase these pieces, we recommend you provide us with a different destination address when placing your private order.

When can I expect to receive my private order?

Your private order will arrive in time for the fall season between September 15 and October 31 2012.

Will all items in my private order be shipped together?

We will dispatch your items as soon as we receive them from McQ Alexander McQueen. Pieces may be shipped separately so you can receive your order sooner. When our fashion advisors contact you to take payment, they will be able to advise you on when to expect delivery.

When will I need to pay for my private order?

Our fashion advisors will contact you to take payment when your order arrives at NET-A-PORTER between September 15 and October 31 2012.

Can I pay for my private order now or in instalments?

Payment for private orders is taken in full when your order arrives from Alexander McQueen.

What currencies do you accept for private orders?

RETURNS, EXCHANGES AND CANCELLATIONS:

Can I cancel a private order?

All private orders can be cancelled up until the time of dispatch. Please email mcq.usa@net-a-porter.com if you wish to cancel your private order.

How do I return private order items?

If you need to make a return, simply request your Returns Merchandise Authorization (RMA) number within 14 days of receiving your order and return the item(s) within the next 14 days.

RECEIVING YOUR RMA

1. Sign in to your account and under My Orders select the order number containing the items you would like to return.

2. Click on the RETURN/EXCHANGE AN ITEM button and choose the reason you want to send your item(s) back. If an item is faulty, please provide details.

3. Select how you would like to be credited. This needs to match the original payment method used.

4. Check the box to agree with our Return Policy. You will then receive an email containing your RMA number which is valid for the next 14 days within which you can send your unwanted item(s) back to us.

RETURNING YOUR PURCHASE

Domestic returns service:

1. Book a free collection with UPS by calling 1 800 823 7459. Alternatively, drop your shipment off at your local UPS store or at any UPS facility. To find your nearest store visit www.ups.com. NET-A-PORTER Premier customers will be contacted within 24 hours to arrange a collection.

2. Complete and sign a copy of the returns pro forma invoice you received with your order and include it with your return.

3. Then attach the UPS label to the outside of the box and seal your package for the driver to collect.

International returns service:

1. Book a free collection with DHL. To find the telephone number of your nearest DHL, visit www.dhl.com and select your country. Please give our account number as stated in your RMA email.

2. Sign four copies of the returns pro forma invoice you received with your order (and fill in the DHL air waybill if applicable).

3. Then leave your package open until the driver has checked the contents. You will be notified by email once your return has been received and processed.

Can I exchange private order items?

As these pieces have been created especially for you, we cannot offer exchanges for different sizes or styles. To ensure you order the correct size, we recommend you speak to our fashion advisors for sizing advice when confirming your order.

  • 1. These Special Order Conditions (the "Special Conditions") shall form part of NET-A-PORTER's Terms of Use & Service for the purchase of McQ Alexander McQueen Fall/Winter 2012 runway pieces more particularly set out at www.net-a-porter.com/mcq (the "Goods"). These Special Conditions form part of the purchase and are supplemental to NET-A-PORTER's Terms of Use & Service (the "General Conditions"). Terms defined in the General Conditions shall have the same meaning in these Special Conditions.   • 8. Insurance and Delivery: The delivery address may be amended up until the Goods are dispatched by sending an email to mcq.usa@net-a-porter.com. Goods will be dispatched as soon as they are received in the NET-A-PORTER warehouse so Goods may be shipped separately if you have ordered more than one.
  • 9. Returns and Exchanges: The Exchanges clause in our Terms of Use & Service shall not apply to the purchase of the Goods and the Goods may not be exchanged. Goods can be returned within 14 days of receipt of your order. Please see our Returns and Exchanges policy for more information.

For seven days only, you have the chance to privately order the pieces you love from Sarah Burton's debut runway collection for McQ Alexander McQueen. The order will be made especially for you at the Alexander McQueen atelier in Italy and will be delivered in time for fall. These limited edition pieces are only available through our private order service and you will be charged when they are shipped to you. Please note, details of the order will not appear in your order history.
