Castañer

Founded in 1927 by Luis Castañer in his native Spain, this family run business was originally established as an espadrille manufacturer. Still operated by his family in Catalunia, the turning point for the company came in the mid sixties when Yves Saint Laurent featured a pair of high heeled espadrilles in his collection and what was traditionally a country folk shoe became luxury fashion footwear. Today the signature wedges are made from woven straw, rattan and wicker and combined with unusual materials.
