Dr. Martens
Iconic footwear brand, Dr. Martens, was born in 1945 when German military doctor Klaus Märtens invented an air-cushioned sole for his standard-issue army boots after an ankle injury. By the 1960s, the label was a worldwide hit and fully-fledged symbol of counter culture with the distinctive rubber sole and yellow stitching adopted by the punk movement. Today, they are stomping their way back into the wardrobes of downtown hipsters like Agyness Deyn and Chloë Sevigny. Look out for patent finishes, stacked heels, plaid prints and embossed crocodile leather.
