    Who better to interview the rising star of shoe design than her friend and mentor?

    Aztec prints, polka-dot trims and glossy leather bows – if you are not already familiar with Sophia Webster's exquisite heels, you soon will be. Championed by fashion insiders as "the next big thing", the 27-year-old British talent honed her skills at London-based accessories label Nicholas Kirkwood before launching her own namesake line earlier this year.

    Nicholas Kirkwood: You've been working here with us for more than two years now. How does it feel to be launching your own label?

    Sophia Webster: It feels like the start of something really exciting!

    At first I found it daunting, but so many people have been supportive from the start. I still can't believe that the first time I showed in New York, everyone just got it.

    NK: How does it feel to be dubbed fashion's one to watch?

    SW: It's very flattering but there's also a lot of pressure – now I have to come up with the goods.

    NK: [Laughs] Yes! Well, you will, of course. And what would you say is the signature Sophia Webster look?

    SW: It's very feminine and delicate, but playful, too.
