SW: I would say [American actress] Zooey Deschanel because her style is ladylike but fun.

NK: Yes, I love her! And how should a woman feel when she puts on a pair of Sophia Webster shoes?

SW: Confident and... [pauses]

NK: You want them to feel...sexy!

SW: Yes, sexy and empowered!

NK: So what was the thinking behind your first collection?

SW: I‘ve referenced a lot of things I love – bows, beads, flamingos and my favorite color, pink! I was also inspired by the pastel shades people paint their houses in Brazil – it's all really energetic and vibrant.

NK: Are you happy with the result?

SW: I'm thrilled – different pieces will appeal to different facets of a woman's personality, which is important to me.

NK: And Sophia, do you have a big shoe wardrobe?

SW: It‘s more of a shoe room. I actually need a shoe house now. I'm like the modern-day Imelda Marcos!

NK: And which pair would you save in a fire?

SW: I have a pair of Nicholas Kirkwoods...

NK: Really? I'm honored!

SW: Yes, a pair of hot-pink sandals from spring/summer 2009 – they are my favorite shoes in the world.

NK: So, do you get dressed from the feet upwards?

SW: Yes, especially if I‘m going somewhere nice in the evening; I'll match my outfit to my shoes.

NK: And what's your next step in world domination?

SW: I've been making a few clutch and bag prototypes, but for now I'm just really excited to see everything come together and to keep discovering what the Sophia Webster woman loves.
