    AWARD SEASON ARRIVES

    It's the time of year when red carpets are rolled out all over Hollywood. The Oscar nominations are announced on Thursday ahead of the ceremony on February 24 and the Golden Globes take place on Sunday with Jessica Alba, Megan Fox and Ed Helms taking up the hosting duties. Kathryn Bigelow is nominated for Best Director and Best Picture for Zero Dark Thirty – a chronicle of the hunt for Osama bin Laden, while the film's star Jessica Chastain is the hot favorite for best actress. Claire Danes' (right) portrayal of a secret-service agent in Homeland has won her a best-actress nomination – and surely a second statuette.
