• the new SKIN finish

FW12’s contoured, porcelain-finish complexions evolved into dewy skin with a hint of sheen for SS13. “Contouring is a great way to bring out your bone structure,” says Tilbury. “You can also achieve that with highlighter, to bring light and life to skin.” Opt for one with light-reflecting particles and sweep on top of cheekbones, down your nose and dab at the Cupid’s bow, then add a touch of clear gloss to eyelids – experts swear by Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream. The best way to get lit-from-within skin is to take care of it, so use a rich moisturizer during cold weather.

    the new up-do

Clean, sleek profiles gave models a graphic edge on the Christian Dior, Acne and Gucci (below) runways, without looking austere. “A minimal, straight finish to hair doesn’t have to be boring,” says New York-based hairstylist Eugene Souleiman, who created the smooth styles at Acne. “It’s pared down, but still has attitude.” The key to sleek locks is in the prep: blow-drying or properly straightening first is essential. Pull back hair with a boar-bristle brush before securing with pins, and finish with shine-boosting hairspray.
