“Team a utilitarian skirt with a soft caramel leather jacket for a laid-back luxe feel.”
“Gold accessories look great with neutral pieces and a warm tan.”
“A short stack heel will be my everyday summer sandal.”
A sense of adventure coursed through the SS13 collections, with utilitarian chic and a carefree bohemian aesthetic producing some of the most covetable hits of the season. There were suede maxi dresses at Saint Laurent, safari jackets at Belstaff and luxe peasant blouses at Isabel Marant – a show that called out, in all its glorious tassle-touting entirety, to the free-spirited fashionista in each of us.
For this week’s cover story, we called on model, surfer and all-round action woman Erin Wasson, the perfect embodiment of nomadic style, to showcase the trend’s star pieces; and our travel and fitness stories take you to chic offbeat oases from Big Sur to Brazil, plus we reveal the nutritional regime behind that enviable West Coast glow. If you don’t happen to have
your very own adventure to embark on, then fear not: as Christa D’Souza discovers in Style Rethink, a loosely cut safari jacket, some worn-in jeans and a printed scarf will hint at a free spirit just waiting to escape.
