and what you stand for. Look at James Dean: he wore jeans and a simple white T-shirt every day and was a total star.”

What is life as a model really like?
“The only thing I can compare it to is being constantly on call, like a doctor with a beeper. In my ’20s I found the pace of it exciting: being in Paris one day, New York the next. But I’ve realized that sometimes this crazy lifestyle keeps you from the things that really matter. It’s the compromise you have to make.”

    Which moments make it worthwhile?
“The most memorable moments are when I’m able to branch out beyond modeling, because I’ve always felt innately creative. I’m blessed to have collaborated with some great designers, like Alexander Wang, and [worked on] projects for brands such as ASH Italia and Zadig & Voltaire.”

How do you maintain your body?
“I love to surf, but the weather is temperamental in LA, so I have started going to Reformer Pilates. It is better than yoga because the

classes are at a faster pace, which holds my attention more.”

You’ve lived in LA for the past seven years. Do you think it’s undergoing a style renaissance?
“Absolutely. But it’s not just fashion – there is a real resurgence in art and music right now. LA has so many interesting subcultures and it’s different to somewhere like New York, because there is actual physical space to create here. The possibilities feel endless.”

    What’s your next adventure?
“I wish I knew! If I died tomorrow, I would like to feel that I have accomplished a lot of beautiful things in a relatively short amount of time.”
