    As a teenager, Donna Karan knew one thing: she did not want to follow her parents into the fashion business, and yet… "It was the only thing I was good at!" she says with a throaty laugh. "I wanted to be an illustrator, so I went for a job at WWD. They said I wasn't good enough, I should take up fashion."
