“This classic white piece will take you anywhere.”
"Flattering and versatile – the perfect pants for any closet."
“A graphic clutch works for day or night.”
There have been moments over the years when, confronted yet again with a sea of clothes that just don’t “go” together, I have been tempted to pare down my closet to a fuss-free palette of graphic black and white. Think Amanda Harlech, muse to Karl Lagerfeld, eternally elegant in chic monochrome. If ever there was a moment to do it, then this – a season that celebrates this simple but powerful color pairing (’60s geometry at Marc Jacobs, bold contrasting pieces at Jil Sander) – is definitely it.
This week’s cover star, actress Lucy Liu, embraces fashion’s graphic new attitude, showcasing SS13’s most elegant sculpted dresses in black, white and – for those who want to make more of a dramatic statement – brilliant vermillion. While in Style Rethink, Christa
D’Souza lusts after the slick stripes that ruled the runways, from Michael Kors to Oscar de la Renta.
And if you only try one thing? Make it a chic graphic eye. Cara Delevingne showcases the look on page 25.
