    Las Vegas, USA

Of all the temples to excess on The Strip, this is the most disco of them all. After a decade here, Studio 54 2.0 ended last year, and Hakkasan Las Vegas moved in – mixing dim sum with 80,000 square feet of nightclub space, to the sounds of DJ Calvin Harris, while DJ Tiësto will spin the decks in 2014.
Insider tip: Stay in the Skylofts, with infinity tubs, Bulgari products and spectacular views.
Best for: Couples. From $754 per night; mgmgrand.com

    Skibo Castle

    Sutherland, Scotland

It costs £24,000 for membership to this club (though you can visit if you express an interest – or are friends with a member), but many believe a champagne-fueled stay here is worth it. The highlight of this 21-room castle is the Saturday-night banquet: black tie, followed by a ceilidh. Past guests at Skibo include the Rockefellers, Rudyard Kipling, and, of course, Madonna.
Insider tip: A piper strolls the grounds to serenade the new day. Best for: Families.
    From £1,300 per night; carnegieclub.co.uk
