Wild for evening:
The deep side parting
This is the perfect contrast to a scene-stealing leopard-print dress. Backstage hairstylist Sam McKnight suggests seawater sprays as the optimum styling aid: “It creates guts and texture so hair looks thicker and styling holds.” Begin by backcombing your crown and lengths, then make a deep side parting and pull the hair across. Place the length over the forehead slightly for a sweeping fringe. Secure a ponytail to the side or at the nape of the neck, and rub the crown to produce flyaways.
Wild for work:
The braided knot
Amp up hair at work while keeping it in check with a messy braid. Start with second-day hair, says McKnight, or use a texturizing powder on lengths. Tie hair in a knot at your nape, loosely braid, then tie another knot, securing with grips. Northwood recommends “running your hand up the length of the braid to create loose strands and a worn-in feel”.
Wild for the weekend:
The tousled waves
With minimal effort, the maximum impact of the tousled waves seen at Just Cavalli can be achieved for all hair lengths for downtime undone chic. “Don’t try to create perfect curls,” says Northwood. “It’s about natural movement to accentuate texture.” Resist the temptation to look in the mirror while tonging; instead, choose pieces of hair at random. Hold for 30 seconds, then shake out the sections to stop your waves looking too defined.credits
