“A playful cream blouse channels Moss’ sexy ’70s streak.”
“Leather pants add a hint of rock chic.”
“The gilet remains the perfect trans-seasonal piece.”
It is hard to believe it has been 25 years since the phenomenon that is Kate Moss burst onto the fashion scene. Since that fairy-tale moment, when the 14-year-old British beauty was spotted by Storm Models’ Sarah Doukas in JFK Airport, we have been captivated by her every turn. Whether dancing with choreographer Michael Clark for Alexander McQueen, stepping out with Johnny Depp or sitting for Lucian Freud, she has always enthralled, seeming somehow both everyday yet totally out of this world.
Photographers and artists who have captured her image over the years say it is her strong sense of self that makes her the perfect subject. So on the eve of a landmark Christie’s auction of Moss-inspired art, we invited artist Mat Collishaw to create a special
cover story with the supermodel.
We also look back at Moss’ much admired style, take inspiration from her iconic looks, and talk to her long-time collaborators – from Charlotte Tilbury to Nick Knight – to discover the secrets of fashion’s most enduring muse.
