- In this week’s style masterclass, The Edit’s Kim Hersov shows how to work three of the season’s hero skirt shapes
T his fall, the love-always skirt is elevated from closet essential to trophy piece in block colors and bold silhouettes. At Stella McCartney, fluted designs added easy elegance to slouchy mohair sweaters, while Victoria Beckham showed a modern sophistication with below-the-knee pencil cuts in ponyskin and leather. The trend continued at Peter Pilotto, where center-split styles made a dramatic counterpoint to cropped jackets and silk shirts. “For work and play, there are beautiful options to suit everyone this fall,” says Kim Hersov. “Consider each to be a smart, chic investment.”

Lend edge to a ladylike skirt, midi or knee-length, with a sporty bomber and sculptural heels. Look for jackets cut to fall at the waist, highlighting the smallest part of the silhouette.
Finish with fuss-free
extras, such as a simple
clutch and wrap bracelet.
