“For a modern take on the trend, invest in a flamboyant white shirt.”
“Team with an embellished mini for cool evening glamor.”
“Heels fit for a princess.”

Prepare to be swept off your feet, as designers take cocktail dresses and evening gowns to magical new heights. Erdem, Oscar de la Renta and Valentino demonstrated fashion’s power to transform and transport, creating “happy-ever-after” lace, silk and marabou dresses in a fairy-tale palette of white, red and black. Bags, shoes and jewelry were also given a sprinkling of fairy dust: Ana Khouri and Aurélie Bidermann created dreamlike gold leaf necklaces; the evening clutch became a work of art in the hands of Alexander McQueen and Anya Hindmarch; and, for the modern-day Cinderella, Sergio Rossi’s gilded butterfly sandals are the pair to covet.
Playing the issue’s fashion fairy godmother is our interviewee, Georgina Chapman, co-founder of
Marchesa, a label beloved of Hollywood stars in search of a fairy-tale red-carpet moment. And this week’s beauty pages tackle every modern heroine’s worst nightmare – insomnia; while in travel, we seek out the world’s most magical hideaways. Let the enchantment begin!
