• Beauty: Gut Instinct
Our nutritionist, former model ROSEMARY FERGUSON, shares her insider secrets on how to achieve a beach-ready waistline

“Start with the gut”, or so the saying goes, and as a mother, model and full-time nutritionist, it certainly rings true with me. Food fads come and go, but taking care of gut health needs to be our one constant, regardless of our busy schedules, and is, incidentally, essential for ensuring a trimmer stomach. The gut controls what we need and eliminates waste. It is also where 90-95 percent of serotonin is located – the hormone responsible for feeling happy, and that has a huge impact on our overall wellbeing. Here are my essential rules for getting your gut and waistline back on track.

    LISTEN TO YOUR GUT

Nutritionists often talk about “listening to our gut” and with good reason – around 20 percent of the US and Europe suffers with Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), a term that encompasses everything from a bloated stomach to cramps, with twice as many women as men being affected.
