When it comes to eveningwear, why do we often ignore our personal aesthetics? Angelina Jolie showed exactly why staying true to your own style is key at last week’s BAFTAs: in a sharp tuxedo, with an open-necked shirt and undone tie slung around her neck, she looked happy, stylish and absolutely beautiful. Forget big blowdries and dramatic dresses – confidence is what elevates a look from ordinary.
With that in mind, ahead of this week’s 86th Academy Awards, we asked Uma Thurman – who always stays true to herself, whether it’s on the red carpet or being the only actor to keep her clothes on in Lars von Trier’s latest movie – to show us how to do glamor with an edge. She doesn’t disappoint.
