- The EDIT’s KIM HERSOV presents the three hero pieces to work SS14’s sporty aesthetic into your closet
From performance fabrics to athletic silhouettes, designers took their inspiration from the track and field this season. Once reserved for weekends, sportswear elements can be added to your closet in subtle, sophisticated ways with three key pieces – the bomber jacket (a SS14 must-have), the track pant and the sports top – making it easy to adopt a louche silhouette without compromising on glamor.
“I have never been interested in this look before,” admits designer and stylist Kim Hersov, “but slouchy shapes have become so sophisticated this season, it is now first priority.”
Jacket by Marni; T-shirt by The Row; jeans by Rag & Bone; sandals by Alexander Wang; clutch by Jil Sander
Balance an oversized top with the new ‘girlfriend’ jean – skinnies will look disproportionate.
THE RUNWAY BOMBER
A bomber replaces the blazer this season. Wear Marni’s work of art with jeans for off-duty, then switch to black cigarette pants for after dark.
