The aim: A trim midriff.
The exercise answer: “Uphill sprints are the easiest way to lose fat from this area,” says London-based trainer Russell Bateman (thesbcollective.com), who helps models Edie Campbell and Suki Waterhouse to get runway-ready. “Sprint as fast as you can for 20 seconds, recover, then repeat six times,” he advises. “It stimulates both your hormones and central nervous system, shifting fat from the lower abs.”
The food fix: “The midriff is a
hazard zone, so avoid grains, sugar and alcohol to de-bloat,” says Bateman. For a quick fix, he recommends adding barley grass powder to a homemade smoothie to combat uncomfortable bloating.
The pro tip: To avoid water retention, massage therapist Tetyana, aka The Cellulite Slayer at London’s Neville Hair and Beauty (nevillehairandbeauty.net), advises drinking lots of water in the morning then slowing down your intake throughout the rest of the day. “It really does work,” says Donna Ida, a denim fit specialist. “You wake up with super-flat abs.”credits
