You are either the type of woman who can pull off a bohemian look, or you are decidedly not. I am the latter. I love the idea of the effortless, ethereal attitude of bohemia, but in reality, I like my clothes with an edge – always an element of hardness to counter an otherwise soft and saccharine affair. Which is why pre-fall’s take on the trend has me very excited. Because this is a darker, tougher, altogether more modern way to do feminine florals. From Givenchy’s black biker covered in pink orchids on page 5, to the almost tapestry effect of the embellished dresses by Valentino, Dolce & Gabbana and Matthew Williamson modeled by Kendra Spears in our cover shoot, these are pieces that allow you to be pretty and powerful.
My muse for the new bohemia is fashion-editor-turned-florist Taylor Tomasi Hill. Interviewed for The EDIT on page 17, she talks about quitting her career to follow her heart, and the style secrets that make her one of fashion month’s most photographed women.
