From 1930s France to the Hollywood red carpet: embrace the timeless glamour of Ralph & Russo’s Parisian-inspired SS19 collection

Fashion

Founded in London in 2010, Ralph & Russo has become world renowned for its couture creations worn by everyone from Beyoncé to the Duchess of Sussex. In just under ten years, the brand has amassed an impressive roster of accolades, most notably, being the first British member in almost a century to be accepted by The Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture – the regulating commission that decides which fashion houses are recognized as true haute couturiers. Establishing their label alongside the world’s most iconic maisons in the space of a decade is no mean feat, however, not content with reaching the pinnacle of high fashion, Creative Director Tamara Ralph and CEO Michael Russo have expanded their dedication to design and innovation to encompass ready-to-wear, leather goods and shoes within the luxury fashion brand.

So, what can fans of the label expect from this new era? With couture still at the heart of the brand DNA, the same exquisite craftsmanship, modern artistry and detail that Ralph & Russo is renowned for has been applied to each piece within the ready-to-wear and accessories collections, be it a tailored tuxedo jacket, cashmere top or ornate leather clutch. For SS19, the work of legendary Hungarian-French photographer Brassaï, who immortalized 1930s Parisian bohemia in his hauntingly beautiful images, was the inspiration behind sensual off-the-shoulder gowns, striking cocktail dresses, tweed separates and sharp tailoring.

With Hollywood awards season underway, expect to see custom Ralph & Russo designs worn by some of the world’s most glamorous women on the red carpet

The glamour of Paris by night is threaded throughout the collection, with glimmering city lights rendered as crystal embroidery, while metallic cut stones, frosted velvet and mirror-like fringe is placed as an ode to the reflection of the Seine. Evoking a sense of joie de vivre, the lustrous metallic color palette ensures the Ralph & Russo woman illuminates every room she walks into. From embellished mini dresses to high-waisted wide-leg pants, contemporary silhouettes are imbued with refined elegance and empowered femininity. And for the first time ever, Ralph & Russo will have accessories available on NET-A-PORTER – think classic chain-handle bags adorned with crystals and luxe hardware.

With Hollywood awards season now fully underway, you can expect to see custom Ralph & Russo designs worn by some of the world’s most glamorous women on the red carpet. For the 61st Annual Grammy Awards this month, Jennifer Lopez turned heads in a bejeweled wide-brim hat and high-neck column gown from the SS19 Couture collection; with its striking Aztec-inspired crystal embellishment, it was one of the standout looks of the night. Be sure to keep an eye on the best-dressed lists to see which stars will be stepping out in the label on Oscars night. Beloved all over the world for its bold and unapologetically glamorous silhouettes, the brand’s ever-progressive identity shows no signs of stopping.
