“All of my pieces are designed with an entertaining lifestyle in mind – colorful, feminine and flirty with a twist,” says fashion designer Lela Rose. “Often, we will tie an entertaining element into that ‘twist’, such as a seasonal cocktail to match. As I always say, ‘Nothing says chic like matching your drink to your dress’!”

Before enrolling to study fashion at the esteemed Parson’s School of Design in New York City, Texas-born Rose – who describes the typical Lela Rose woman as “refined, modern, feminine, social, confident and fun” – was formally trained in fine art. That schooling now forms the foundations of her eponymous brand, which was launched in 1998, via the innovative use of color, artisanal fabrics and techniques, and the strong, sculptural silhouettes in each of the collections.

For the label’s latest pre-fall 2018 line, the delight is in the details: the richly jewel-toned palette of orchid pink, cobalt and olive; the structured bows peppering everything from oversized sleeves to necklines; and the elegantly cascading ruffles, finishing off hemlines and fluttering around shoulders. Though it’s a difficult choice to make, the designer says her favorite piece from the whole collection is the elegant one-shoulder peplum top, delicately crafted from embroidered floral organza. “I love the fabric; it is light and airy with a modern vibe,” she explains. “It’s the perfect dinner top to dress up any table or party.” The beauty of the new line is that it has been created with ease in mind: mix and match the pieces as you prefer, or simply choose one of the throw-on-and-look-incredible dresses.
