Bao Bao

Long calling his work design instead of fashion, Issey Miyake’s BAO BAO line, when first launched in the early 2000s, came about at one of the highest moments of his career and consolidated his image as a master of fabric manipulation. The first bag – ‘Bilbao’- was inspired by the postmodernist building housing the Guggenheim Museum in Spain, effectively translating architecture into avant-garde accessories. Each piece is made with a mesh base layered with polyvinyl triangles that are sturdy yet highly flexible, meaning that the bag changes as you add items inside.
