Arguably the most talked-about color of the year, red is still going strong – shades ranging from oxblood to crimson dominated the FW24 shows, with many brands presenting full tonal looks on the runway. If committing to one shade from head to toe feels a little intimidating, try every tastemaker’s favorite styling trick by adding a pop of red to outfits instead. Whether you choose to pare it back with neutrals or amp it up with other primary colors, the effect will be just as striking.

If you’re drawn to deeper tones, they don’t get much more luxurious than burgundy. “Nour Hammour’s ‘Tamara’ coat holds the power to add a level of sophistication and depth to any outfit,” says NET-A-PORTER’s senior fashion editor Marquessa Whyte. “Crafted from supple leather, this timeless piece is an investment that will last for years and become even more desirable as the texture and color of the leather ages,” she adds. It’s also part of our NET SUSTAIN edit and is exclusive to NET-A-PORTER this season.

You could dress it down for daytime with adidas Originals by Wales Bonner’s coveted ‘Samba’ sneakers in metallic and croc-effect leather, plus Arch4’s knitted cashmere balaclava (another NET SUSTAIN highlight) on chilly winter mornings. For evening, slip it on over a slinky slip dress.

On the brighter end of the scale, &Daughter’s ‘Carrow’ sweater comes in vibrant poppy-red that’s guaranteed to lift your spirits whenever you wear it. It’s been hand-linked and hand-finished by a small group of artisans in Donegal, Ireland, using exceptionally soft Scottish Geelong wool (one of the most sought-after lambswools in the world) and has tactile cable ties that nod to traditional fisherman styles. On weekends, slip it on with straight-leg jeans, such as Brunello Cucinelli’s high-rise pair, and Khaite’s Western-inspired ‘Marfa’ ankle boots.

The secret to elevating casual ensembles? A timeless leather bag. Bottega Veneta’s ‘Long Andiamo’ clutch is crafted using the label’s iconic intrecciato weave and has space inside for your phone, cards and keys. Complement the knotted gold toggle fastening with Spinelli Kilcollin’s set-of-three ‘Piera’ rings, each handmade from 18-karat gold and tipped with a sparkling diamond.
