“I buy investment pieces that I love at the beginning of the season, so when it comes to sales, I look for things that are a bit out of my comfort zone but that I’ve kept revisiting throughout. If I’m still dreaming about them come sale time, they become a must-have. I saw a pair of leopard-print boots on Caroline Issa at the February shows in Paris and have wanted them ever since. Personally, I always find Chloé pants to be a perfect cut for me, and this checked pair allows me to step gently into the FW19 bourgeoisie aesthetic. I’ll style them with a tight black or white turtleneck or vest and boots to capture the ’70s spirit of the Chloé girl. And finally, I’m not really a dress girl, but I’m definitely a Khaite girl, and I have imagined spinning around in this polka-dotted glory since I first saw it.”

“The way I shop the sale can be a little bit erratic. On the one hand, I realize it’s a great opportunity to invest in timeless pieces that I’ll wear and cherish for years, which is exactly why I’ll be looking for a leather coat and a great pair of boots – they’re no-brainers that will slot effortlessly into my wardrobe. On the other hand, I also love to indulge my inner magpie, which is why I’m also on the hunt for the perfect party bag and a modern corset top – statement pieces for special occasions.”

“I use sales to buy those keep-forever investment pieces like a bag, coat or pair of shoes. Items like these are usually the most expensive so I look to find a bargain and stock up during a sale. I was drawn to these pieces for their versatility; I think each item is suitable for both day and evening occasions, so I’ll get a lot of wear out of them. I also like to shop smart and invest now in pieces for next season (I’m on the hunt for some great knits and a cashmere coat) so that when it comes around, I’m prepared. These pieces are really easy to style; paired together with a basic white T-shirt, the coat, bag, shoes and jeans are an effortlessly chic daytime look. Then, if I want to elevate them for evening, I’ll add a black silk or sparkly blouse.”

“My sale shopping strategy is to beeline for the brands I love. I’ll open tabs on my screen for each one (such as Loewe, Isabel Marant, Khaite and Joseph), as well as newer designers that I’ve been keen to try (Deveaux, Nanushka, Giuliva Heritage Collection and Peter Do). I definitely view the sale as an opportunity to build up my core wardrobe of timeless, high-quality pieces, but who can resist a fun sale splurge? I’m a naturally pared-back dresser and event dressing takes me out of my comfort zone (florals and frills are not my natural habitat), so I use the sales to stock up on one or two amazing dresses and a great evening bag, too.”

“I am constantly curating my NET-A-PORTER wish list and will throw in anything I love throughout the season. It means that when the sale hits, I can immediately see which of my favorite pieces have been reduced, allowing me to avoid impulse purchases. I tend to focus on investment buys like coats, bags and shoes. I already have my eye on a few trenches and parkas, which I know will go with my day-to-day look. The sale is also a great time to stock up on staples such as jeans and simple knitwear (hello, cashmere!). In terms of accessories, a sturdy tote will be a great travel buddy but also a practical choice for work. I’m also eyeing up some barely-there sandals, which I’m picturing myself wearing with floral midi dresses, or more tailored pieces in the office. Plus, they are perfect for showing off my tan at the end of summer.”

“My approach to sale shopping is a combination of investing in some solid must-haves and treating myself to the occasional trend piece that I’ve had my eye on all season. I’ll be looking for the perfect grown-up trench with a twist, and a classic black bag – they’re a safe bet as I know they will go with everything. The more trend-led pieces I want to indulge in are some ’90s-style barely-there sandals, a statement party dress, and some gold jewelry to add to my collection.”

“My approach to sale shopping is tactical. My first go-to this season will be a timeless trench – an investment that will always have a place in my wardrobe – that I’ll wear with understated gold hoops. I’ll also be on the hunt for a classic yet versatile suit; I’ll wear it with minimalist white sneakers for work, or separately – the jacket over a slip dress, or the pants with a silk cami top – teamed with heels for a night out.”
