Materialists

Director Celine Song follows up her stunning, award-winning film Past Lives with this highly anticipated new project, which stars Dakota Johnson as a matchmaker in a love triangle of her own (with Pedro Pascal and Chris Evans, no less). In true Song style, the film is a meditation on love, ambition and the myth of having it all – and will certainly charm the socks off any romcom cynics. In movie theaters from June 13

Joaquin Phoenix and Pedro Pascal star in Eddington

Eddington

Midsommar wunderkind Ari Aster is quickly becoming the go-to director for deranged dramas and his new project, Eddington, is no exception. Aster’s long-time collaborator Joaquin Phoenix takes top billing alongside Emma Stone and Pedro Pascal, who star as dwellers of the tiny town Eddington in New Mexico. Trapped in a spiral of COVID neuroses, conspiracy theories and armchair politics, Eddington is a super-smart state-of-the-nation comment on modern-day hysteria. In movie theaters from July 18

The Naked Gun

No one is more deserving of their recent leading-lady status than Pamela Anderson. Following a critically acclaimed performance in Gia Coppola’s The Last Showgirl, Anderson returns to screens in this pitch-perfect cop caper – a legacy sequel to the 1980s movie and television franchise – in which she plays the no-nonsense foil to Liam Neeson’s blundering detective, Frank Drebin Jr. Expect a surefire smash hit. In movie theaters from August 1

Damson Idris and Brad Pitt go head to head behind the wheel in F1

F1

Brad Pitt helms this big-budget, behemoth of a project – playing a former Formula One superstar who comes out of retirement to mentor an up-and-coming racing prodigy, played by Damson Idris. No expense has been spared for this production, which was filmed at real-life Grand Prix races (spot F1 legends such as Lewis Hamilton, Charles LeClerc and Lando Norris in the background). With Javier Bardem, Tobias Menzies, Kerry Condon and Simone Ashley in supporting roles, it’s safe to say this film will be nothing short of epic. In movie theaters from June 25

Adam Sandler takes another swing in Happy Gilmore 2

Happy Gilmore 2

Some might say it’s the sequel we’ve all been waiting for… Adam Sandler is back with the follow up to his kooky cult classic about an unlikely golf player who ascends to greatness in the name of his late grandfather. Original cast members including Julie Bowen (Modern Family) and Christopher McDonald (Hacks) have returned alongside genius cameos from Margaret Qualley, Ben Stiller, Bad Bunny and Travis Kelce. You can expect more of Sandler’s iconic one-liners and plenty of goofball gags. On Netflix from July 25

Ana de Armas – steely and strong in Ballerina

Ballerina

From the John Wick universe comes this nightmarish neo-noir starring Ana de Armas as ruthless ballerina-assassin Eve Macarro, who embarks on a revenge-fueled odyssey through New York’s criminal underworld to find her father’s killer. The film is a neon-lit fever dream, where explosive action sequences are peppered with delicate ballet routines – and danger lurks around every corner. In movie theaters from June 7

The dystopian franchise returns, this time with Aaron Taylor-Johnson, in 28 Years Later

28 Years Later

It’s difficult to believe that it’s been 18 years since the last chapter in Danny Boyle’s iconic series of zombie thrillers. This time around, Jodie Comer, Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Ralph Fiennes (along with a rumored appearance from original castmember Cillian Murphy) have all been recruited to stave off the zombie apocalypse. If the film’s predecessors are anything to go by, it’s set to be a masterpiece. In movie theaters from June 20

Natalie Portman and John Krasinsky embark on the ultimate adventure in Fountain of Youth

Fountain of Youth

Oscar-winner Natalie Portman and John Krasinski (The Office) join forces as estranged siblings, reunited in their quest to find the mythological ‘fountain of youth’ in this buzzy new release from Guy Ritchie. The trailer promises Indiana Jones levels of adventure, shot against epic backdrops including the Pyramids of Giza and the Pantheon in Rome. Plus, look out for other wonders of the acting world, Stanley Tucci and Domhnall Gleeson, who have hilarious cameos. On Apple TV+ now
