Fashion brands are often an extension of the cities they inhabit – and that’s certainly true of Altuzarra, the New York-based brand that consistently embodies the energy and sophistication of the Big Apple. Set to present its FW25 collection at New York Fashion Week at 11am on Saturday, February 8, the brand’s dresses are front-row favorites – loved for their easy elegance – and this ‘Trey’ style is the perfect example. An effortless day-to-night style, it’s a springy ribbed-knit that beautifully hugs your figure and has face-framing petal sleeves.

“Preparation is key – and with fashion month upon us, I have been planning my wardrobe to suit my busy schedule,” says NET-A-PORTER’s fashion editor, Kristen Neillie. “Bearing New York’s cold temperatures in mind, I wanted something to keep me warm yet looks sleek… and when I saw this knitted design by Altuzarra, I knew it was the one. I love the ribbed texture and distinctive shoulder detailing. Plus, the deep V-neckline is incredibly flattering. I will be styling mine with a chunky gold chain necklace, like this diamond-encrusted style by Manhattan-based David Webb, and Stuart Weitzman’s patent-leather ballet flats for ultimate comfort when dashing between shows.”

When it comes to New York style, minimalism naturally springs to mind – crisp, clean silhouettes, modern details and a monochromatic palette are all essential in nailing the look. Ticking every box, Khaite’s ‘Saraphina’ jacket is beautifully cut from grain de poudre, in a boxy, single-breasted shape with a winged collar and vertical welt pockets. There’s little you can’t style it with, but a midi skirt feels particularly chic – Simkhai’s ‘Stella’ style comes in crisp cotton-blend poplin that’s pleated for movement and has a contrasting knitted waist.

To finish, pick up Savette’s ‘Symmetry Pochette’ bag in ‘Maple’ leather to add a welcome pop of color. The chic top-handle shape evokes mid-century styles and has just enough space inside for your phone, cardholder and compact.
