Specializing in five-star, heartfelt Greek philoxenia (hospitality), this new luxury hotel on Mykonos is the epitome of laid-back island luxury. Kalesma boasts scenic indoor/outdoor living, uninterrupted views of the Aegean Sea, and an aesthetic inspired by the spellbinding Cycladic surroundings. Suites come complete with their own private pools, alfresco dining areas and freestanding tubs under a starlit sky. Opening April 2021

Located in Baja’s East Cape, Amanvari features a resort, private residences, multiple dining venues and Aman Spa, plus its own stretch of white-sand beach

The Aurum, New York State, US

Set in 131 acres of forest at the foot of Mount Tremper in the Catskill Mountains is the first hospitality venture co-developed by Steve Gold and Samuel Amoia. The result, The Aurum, is an incredible boutique hotel and hammam with a particular emphasis on wellness, taking its inspiration from Ancient Roman spas. Accommodation ranges from rooms in the beautifully refurbished lodge to glass-fronted bungalows complete with fire pits and hot tubs. Opening late 2021

Xigera’s aesthetic is dedicated to celebrating African design and inspired by the incredible natural surroundings

Xigera Safari Lodge, Okavango Delta, Botswana

A standout addition to the safari scene this year is Xigera Safari Lodge, in Botswana’s Moremi Game Reserve overlooking the Okavango Delta. Here, amid the astounding landscape, 12 suites have been immaculately designed with locally sourced, handcrafted art and inspired by the natural surroundings and wildlife. Moreover, a commitment to sustainability, conservation and community stays at the core of the Xigera ethos, with its locale in the heart of a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Opening early 2021

Soho House Canouan, St Vincent and the Grenadines

As Soho House openings go, this is set to be quite a big one. The group’s first property in the Caribbean is on the secluded island of Canouan – which is part of St Vincent and the Grenadines – and will have 40 elegantly designed bedrooms. Opening early 2021

The Woodward is set to be Geneva’s first all-suite hotel

The Woodward, Geneva, Switzerland

Opening in Geneva this spring is a palatial new offering from the Oetker Collection. Situated on the shores of Lake Geneva, this 1901 mansion has been renovated by Parisian architect Pierre-Yves Rochon and boasts a showstopping spa (featuring the longest indoor pool in Geneva), 26 suites decked in marble, and enticing dining options from L’Atelier de Joël Robuchon and Alain Verzeroli’s Le Jardinier. Opening spring 2021

Gleneagles Townhouse, Edinburgh, Scotland

Scotland’s eminent, mononymous estate is coming into town, with its debut Gleneagles city outpost reviving a central townhouse that will also be home to an all-day restaurant, two bars, a rooftop terrace and a private members’ club. Opening fall 2021

The Legian Sire is set on Lombok’s most pristine beach, with ocean-front views facing the famous Gili Islands

Overlooking the sparkling waters of North Lombok, The Legian Sire is a boutique, suite and villa resort, designed by Agnes Affandy and Shaun Yeo (prodigies of Indonesian design). It is set between white beaches and mountain forests, with a wellness experience helmed by Tomoka Nguyen and a tantalizing two-tiered swimming pool. Opening July 2021

This thousand-year-old Umbrian castle has been meticulously restored and stylishly reimagined into the Hotel Castello di Reschio

This magical 10th-century castle has undergone a careful transformation into the magnificent boutique Hotel Castello di Reschio, in the rolling Umbrian hills. The restoration pays homage to the property’s history, while imbuing it with luxurious elegant touches – from alfresco hot tubs to the glass-encased Palm Court terrace, and a landscaped pool surrounded by olive groves and ancient vineyards. Opening April 2021

The Pig in the South Downs, West Sussex, England

The latest outpost of fast-growing countryside bolthole brand The Pig opens in West Sussex this year. Taking over the Georgian, Grade II-listed Madehurst Lodge, it will be instilled with the group’s signature, quirky characteristics. In keeping with The Pig’s commitment to local, seasonal, delicious dining, the greenhouse restaurant will source ingredients from the kitchen garden, the surrounding 25-mile radius, and its very own vineyard. Opening summer 2021

Desa Potato Head, Seminyak, Bali

Desa Potato Head aims to transcend traditional mediums of hospitality, describing itself as a “place where music, art, design, food, wellness and sustainability collide, offering a new type of holistic experience for both the local community and guests”. There is a strong emphasis on sustainability – from the farm-to-table, zero-waste restaurant to the biodegradable coconut-husk slippers – and a program of creative and wellness-focused events. The resort will be completed this year with the opening of the Potato Head Studios hotel. Opening to be announced

Nobu Hotel Marrakech, Morocco

Marrakech’s Hivernage district is the destination for Nobu’s newest opening, close to the vibrant souks of the ancient city center. The brand will serve up its distinctive style of large-scale luxury, punctuated by an array of dining options and rooftop terraces, a glorious spa, and both indoor and outdoor swimming pools. Opening to be announced

Sustainability is part of the ethos of Potato Head Studios in Bali, with amenities including bio slippers, refillable and zero-waste essentials, natural soaps and more

Aman, New York City, US

A spectacular and rare city oasis comes to the heart of Manhattan courtesy of Aman this spring. Perched right above Fifth Avenue, the brand has restored The Crown Building (previously the first home of Museum of Modern Art) to its original splendor, while injecting its signature sanctuary style, complete with a state-of-the-art Aman Spa. Opening spring 2021

As well as the 2,300 square meter Aman Spa – which is set over three storeys – many of Aman’s Residences also come with dramatic pools, generous outdoor spaces and expansive views

Rosewood Le Guanahani, St Barts

Rosewood opens its revival of the iconic St Barts Le Guanahani this year – after the building was forced to close after Hurricane Irma – designed by Luis Pons Design Lab. The setting couldn’t be more picturesque: a private 18-acre peninsula overlooking Marigot Bay and Grand Cul-de-Sac beach. Opening to be announced

Hoshino Kai Kirishima, Kagoshima, Japan

Speaking of spectacular scenery, Hoshino’s latest opening, Kai Kirishima, takes a prime locale in the middle of Kirishima-Kinkowan National Park. From here, soak up breathtaking panoramas of Kagoshima Bay for a luxurious immersion into the area. Opening early 2021

One&Only Portonovi boasts an enviable position at the entrance of the Bay of Kotor

One&Only Portonovi, Montenegro

One&Only opens its first European outpost this year, overlooking the Bay of Kotor in the Adriatic Sea. The palatial grounds offer no fewer than six pools, a private beach, lush Venetian-inspired gardens, tennis courts and a Chenot Espace Health & Wellness Spa. Dining options include the Mediterranean Sabia restaurant, headed up by Michelin-starred chef Giorgio Locatelli; La Veranda, which serves traditional Montenegrin fare, and an Asian-fusion menu at the Tapasake Club. Opening May 2021

On the beautiful Benguerra Island, situated 10 miles off the Mozambique coast, Kisawa offers 12 bungalows within its 741-acre sanctuary. Each has its own private beachfront, swimming pool, massage hut and outdoor kitchen, while the hotel offers a number of dining options and a spa with an Ayurvedic therapy menu. It has been designed to minimize its footprint on the rich and pristine ecosystems of the Bazaruto Archipelago, with a local environmental non-profit consulted on the build. Opening April 2021

Located in Covent Garden, NoMad London will celebrate the relationship between the New York and London art scenes

NoMad London, England

Coming to London for its international debut, NoMad London takes over the 19th-century former Bow Street Magistrate’s Court and Police Station. Combining the brand’s familiar unassuming style with the historic building’s ornate intricacy, original features have been incorporated into the design of the imposing 91-room hotel. Opening spring 2021
