State Property's founders Afzal Imram and Lin Ruiyi often name each piece after a person who inspires them - these earrings, for example, nod to Portuguese explorer and nobleman Bartolomeu Dias, who was the first European during the Age of Discovery to anchor in present-day South Africa.
