The sneakers starting a fashion revolution
If, like us, you’re trying to be mindful about your plastic use (and we really hope we’ve inspired you to do so), you’ll have noticed that it can be tricky when it comes to sourcing responsible running shoes. Which is why environmental organization Parley has teamed up with Adidas – another company trying to reduce its plastics use – to create symbols for change via a series of Adidas x Parley sneakers, some of which are available to buy on NET-A-PORTER, with all proceeds going towards Parley’s work. “Sustainability isn’t enough. It takes eco-innovation to create the future,” says Parley founder Cyrill Gutsch. The shoes are made from Parley’s Ocean Plastic® – upcycled marine plastic waste, intercepted on beaches and coastal communities – and have style, functionality and compassion at their core. Lace up yours to join the global running movement Run For The Oceans, taking place from June 8 to July; you can join the race digitally from anywhere in the world, or you can take part in one of the Adidas x Parley runs across the globe. For the first million kilometers run, Adidas will match $1 per km to support the Parley Ocean School program in the Maldives, which educates children to become Ocean Guardians via immersive ocean experiences.
