Cala de la Cruz

Cala de la Cruz tells a tale of life by the coast (‘cala’ translates to ‘small bay’ in Spanish) and reflects the warmth and free spirit of the brand’s Colombian origin. “It’s incredibly rich in texture and emotion,” says founder Carolina Lopez. “I wanted to create a brand with a strong sense of personality and artistry, one that offers a distinct point of view on how Latin America is represented, from the graphic language to the overall visual world,” she adds.

From bold, expressive prints and kaleidoscopic color combinations to effortless, resort-ready silhouettes, the brand’s joyous collections immediately conjure the feeling of an endless, carefree summer. Crafted by local artisans using a mix of organic and recycled materials, the pieces in NET-A-PORTER’s edit include exclusive versions of the brand’s ‘Tania’ dress, retro-inspired swimwear and matching sets – each printed with hand-drawn illustrations and bold, geometric motifs. “Print is at the heart of the brand,” says Lopez. “It’s about layering color, scale and rhythm until it feels balanced but still a bit unexpected.”

Terry Puesto

Inspired by poolside clothing from the ’60s and ’70s, vignettes from French New Wave cinema – such as Brigitte Bardot sunbathing in Jean Luc Godard’s Le Mépris – and long European summers, Terry Puesto’s signature toweling is made for sun-drenched days by the sea.

“At its core, Terry Puesto is grounded in nostalgia with practicality in mind. It’s about comfort with style, being able to throw on toweling after a swim and easing into long lunches or wearing breathable crochet against sun-kissed skin on a balmy night,” says founder and photographer Brigette Clark.

The Australian label’s custom double-sided terry cloth is responsibly crafted from 100% GOTS-certified organic cotton and took 18 months to perfect. “It was a really considered process. We wanted something that felt elevated but still held onto that familiar, nostalgic comfort of your favorite beach towel,” Clark continues.

Describing her process as “instinctive and emotional”, Clark likes to test out the functionality of initial samples herself before deciding whether to include them in a collection. “Wearing pieces out, traveling with them, seeing how they live and move. That’s when you know something works,” she explains, remembering a time on vacation when someone asked where her top was from – an early sample of what is now ‘The Poolside’ top in crochet. “That was kind of the turning point. It felt like real, unfiltered feedback, not from a fitting or a studio, but from someone experiencing it in the exact setting it was designed for.”

Bloumme

Bloumme

Australia-based brand Bloumme has rapidly gained a cult following for creating everyday flip flops with a fashion-forward edge. The brand states that “it’s not just about function or aesthetics in isolation. It’s about elevating the everyday – creating footwear that feels considered, confident, and moves easily through different environments.”

Inspired by music, ’60s architecture and designers like Pierre Cardin and André Courrèges, Bloumme’s designs have a sleek, futuristic feel. They are ergonomically designed for support and come in colors ranging from fuchsia and banana-yellow to eggplant and sky-blue.

“We’re interested in how modern life moves – between coast and city, day and night – and designing product that can shift seamlessly within that rhythm,” the brand notes read. This meant creating a style with a heel just high enough to feel elevated in every setting. Enter the ‘Arc’ – a 40mm kitten heel that “brings a sense of lightness and attitude [and is] comfortable enough to run around in all day… without compromising on comfort.” Consider us sold.

Thistles

“Sunglasses serve a function in protecting you, but they also define the way you look and move,” says Thistles creative director, Thistle Brown. Originally from New Zealand but now based in New York, Brown is constantly inspired by the energy and grit of the city he calls home. “I love the spontaneity of New York. The people here move differently; there’s an unspoken rhythm and a shared awareness.”

It’s fitting then that Brown and his team should look to some of the city’s greatest icons for inspiration, from Jackie Kennedy to Lou Reed and Debbie Harry. “Our two new shapes, ‘The Lex’ and ‘The Suede’, carry a subtle nod to the sleek, fast energy of ’60s silhouettes, reimagined through a slimline, downtown ’80s no-wave lens,” Brown enthuses. While some are inspired by a specific muse, others capture a mood, like the wire-framed ‘Cruz’ style for instance. “That frame is a total nod to ’90s New York – strolling through SoHo with your Dean & Deluca lunch and landing at Washington Square Park to sit in the sun.”

As for the designs themselves? It’s all about balance. “We have to strike a chord between structure and ease,” Brown explains. “This season we focused on evolving our core DNA: classic shapes, but with subtle shifts and details that make them distinctly ours.”

Rivage

Rivage

The best garments are often the ones you never knew you needed, and that’s certainly true of Rivage’s swimdress. A swimsuit, poolside cover-up and beach dress all in one, it was dreamt up by Stockholm-based founders Nadja Forsberg, Michelle Malmström and Jessica Johansson six years ago after a trip to the South of France. Their collective desire for a piece that offered true versatility on vacation led them to create a swim-meets-ready-to-wear hybrid that could be worn straight out of the water to lunch with ease.

“We often start with the silhouette, how a piece should move with the body and how it should make the wearer feel and let this drive the shape of the product line,” says Forsberg of their design process. “We use the pieces ourselves and understand it through real-life moments. The functional aspect – how it moves, adapts, and holds over time, naturally leads us toward certain textures and a considered approach to color,” she adds.

Material matters, too. All of the brand’s swimwear is crafted in Italy using high-quality stretch fabric that’s lightweight, quick-drying and resistant to pilling, plus offers complete coverage and UV protection. “Designing swimwear goes beyond aesthetics; each piece needs to withstand sun, saltwater, chlorine, machine washing, SPF and even occasional contact with makeup or self-tanner. At the same time, the fabrics must retain their elasticity, transition smoothly from wet to dry, and hold their shape and color over time,” Forsberg explains. Ticking every box, simply squeeze out excess water from your Rivage swimdress or two-piece after a dip, let it dry for a few minutes in the sun and you’re good to go.

Away That Day

“It should make you feel confident and comfortable. When a swimsuit fits well and feels flattering it can lift your entire mood,” says Away That Day founder Ingemae Kotze. Inspired by her own quest to find timeless, responsibly crafted swimwear, the UK-based designer launched her brand in 2019 and hasn’t looked back.

“For me, it’s important to create pieces that last – both in quality and in design. That means being thoughtful about the materials we use and how we produce them” Kotze explains, noting that all Away That Day’s designs are crafted close to home in the UK and Europe to ensure the highest standards. “It’s not about being perfect, but about making conscious decisions with everything we do to be kinder to our planet.”

The collection includes elegant bikinis, swimsuits and cover-ups in timeless colors and shapes that can easily be mixed and matched – and worn for summers to come. “I’m meticulous about every detail. For our signature ‘Cannes’ one-piece, for example, it took more than 10 fittings to get it right,” Kotze admits. “I think I drove my team a little crazy with this one, but I knew it would be worth it. It ended up being our best-selling style and one of the key silhouettes that helped shape the brand into what it is today.”
