How To Fake A Top-To-Toe Glow
The end of summer doesn’t have to mean bidding farewell to your vacation glow, but as lazier days slip away and our schedule picks up again, time can be precious. KEEKS REID talks through some of the quickest ways to prolong your skin’s summer radiance
Mix and match skincare
No one wants to wear heavy layers of product plus makeup to achieve a radiant finish, which is why a plethora of glow-giving formulas can now be added to your skincare arsenal for a healthy flush. Case in point: mixing just one drop of Pai Skincare The Impossible Glow Bronzing Drops into your favorite moisturizer is enough to achieve sheer, natural luminosity.
Strategize your glow
“Another way to get glowing skin is to strategically place a light luminizer on the highest points of the face,” says Rose-Marie Swift, founder of RMS Beauty. “The best product for this is the RMS Beauty Living Luminizer, which can be placed along collarbones and shoulders, too.” Swapping out your traditional powder highlighter for a liquid formula will deliver a lovely, natural sheen.
Enhance your hydration
When it comes to detecting dehydration, an instant warning sign is rough skin and a dull complexion. Of course, incorporating more water into your diet and adding hydrating serums and lotions into your regimen will increase radiance levels over time but, for immediate impact, masks can work wonders. Under-eye and sheet masks, in particular, are quick to use and effective for almost-instant plumping. Look out for ingredients such as hyaluronic acid, collagen and caffeine to bring skin to life, especially when it comes to brightening the under-eye area.
Stimulate skin renewal
Achieving a top-to-toe glow starts in the shower. “[When it comes to skin], the same rules should apply to your body as they do your face,” says Susanne Kaufmann, founder of her eponymous beauty brand. “I turn to my Refining Body Scrub to thoroughly cleanse and buff – it creates the perfect base for your follow-on products,” she says. Also good: your lotions, butters and oils will go on smoother and sink into skin faster afterwards for a radiant look.
Using circular motions when applying your scrub will encourage better blood flow, too, resulting in a healthier-looking skin tone. “Apply the scrub in a gentle, stroking motion rather than rubbing too hard to avoid aggravating the skin,” says Kaufmann. “Then, finish with our Body Butter to help nourish, stimulate skin renewal and help firm skin for an extra boost of hydration to achieve a healthy, full-body glow.”
Just add oil
From makeup to body and skincare, oils are a quick luminosity fix. Mist your face with a bi-phase setting spray or tap on face oil for a dewy, youthful glow. If you have oily or combination skin, keep this concentrated to the periphery of your face and avoid the T-zone to ensure you look radiant, not shiny. Body-wise, a light, dry oil down the center of your limbs will produce a natural, healthy highlight.
