The city sarong

Spring always delivers a breadth of fresh new styles in transitional colors, fabrics and shapes, and this season everyone is talking about sarong silhouettes – think gathered waists, asymmetric draping and resort-ready prints. First seen on the spring/summer 2026 runway, Chloé’s midi skirt is printed with vibrant aquamarine blooms and artfully knotted at the waist to create the most beautiful drape. Echo the show’s styling by wearing it with the matching swimsuit or a white tee. Alternatively, embrace the ease of Dries Van Noten’s ‘Scarfy’ pareo with a clashing print and sandals.

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley stepped out during Paris Fashion Week in a suede column skirt and a turtleneck – an extremely chic pairing

The column silhouette

Sleek column skirts are all tastemakers are wearing right now – just ask Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, who channeled Carolyn Besette Kennedy in a buttery suede style by The Row in Paris. If you love the style but have a petite frame, simply balance the long length with a heel or have a tailor alter it to suit you. Proenza Schouler White Label’s crinkled ‘Nayah’ skirt exudes ’90s minimalism and is perfect for the office and a dinner date afterward. Elsewhere, Khaite’s ‘Winton’ style is printed with trending polka dots and can either be dressed up with a camisole and heels or down with lightweight knit and flats.

The super mini

Mini skirts with haute hemlines – from sculptural ruffles to rippling waterfall effects – were spotted all over the spring/summer 2026 runways at the likes of Alaïa, Loewe and Rabanne. The trick to mastering a mini between the seasons is to balance the thigh-grazing length with a long-sleeved top and knee-high boots, swapping into heels come evening. Alaïa’s crisp white mini comes in this season’s trending bubble-hem silhouette, which calls for something more fitted on top – try yours with a turtleneck or a nipped-in jacket. Elsewhere, Loewe’s asymmetric design is a highlight from Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez’s debut collection for the Spanish fashion house. Pair it with a simple tee and flats for day, and a blazer and mules at night.

Also spotted at Paris Fashion Week, the fashion set were seen sporting skirts with ultra-high and ultra-haute hemlines
