Incredible Women

5 reasons why we love Chrissy Teigen

We’re long-time devotees of Clapback Queen CHRISSY TEIGEN, so all we needed was the excuse of her new cookbook to prompt an outpouring of admiration

She trolls indiscriminately

No one is exempt from a Teigan social savaging – including the President of the United States. But this Twitter feud pre-dates Donald Trump’s presidency – in fact, all the way back to 2011. In an interview with USA Today, Teigen said, “I’ve been trolling [Trump] for about five to seven years now… I’ve been doing this forever, and I take pride in that. If I mysteriously go missing in the next four years then that’s [why].” Things reached a head last year when the president blocked her on Twitter – only for a Federal Court judge to rule the move “unconstitutional”.

She’s a true foodie

Talking about it, writing about it, cooking it, ’gramming it: Teigen is a diehard foodie. And not just like-bait macarons and smashed avocado – this is serious food that makes us salivate and feel better about our carb cravings. When she’s not rejoicing at a follow-back from Pizza Hut or sharing her innermost thoughts about breakfast, she is busy pouring all of her wisdom into her best-selling cookbooks. Tomorrow, she releases her latest instalment of special dishes, Cravings: Hungry for More. And when it comes to Teigen, we always are.

She takes her credit when it’s due

When her husband John Legend (you may have heard of him) received two Grammy nominations for his ballad All of Me, Teigen took to Twitter to remind us all that without her, the global No.1 song wouldn’t exist. They say behind every successful man is a strong woman, but Teigen’s shout out is a welcome reminder that a good man isn’t going to mind if you’re right next to him instead. The Legends’ banter is now actually legendary – if you haven’t experienced it then Google away (or go straight to Instagram’s @commentsbycelebs, who round up her best bits every Sunday), but be prepared to say goodbye to your day.

She always keeps it real

Teigen takes a no-holds-barred approach to life, and that includes Twitter confessionals. Whether it’s discussing her hangovers, stretch marks, struggles with postpartum depression or even just the process of giving birth itself, she’s not playing into the dangerous social-media show of unachievable perfection. So the only reason you need to feel bad when reading her posts is that you didn’t think of that genius response first.

She chose a husband who supports women

Shortly after the birth of their daughter Luna, the Legends went out for dinner and the internet subsequently lost its mind. The keyboard warriors came out in full force and, sadly, focused their hate solely at Teigen, so her husband stepped in to put them back in their (140 character) boxes. Sure, she could fight her own corner, but men need to challenge inequality too, and of course Teigen married a man who’s not here for double standards.
