This year marks the 40th anniversary of London Fashion Week, and as the event gets underway in the capital, there’s no better time to celebrate homegrown British talent. Set to present its SS25 collection at 11am on Sunday, September 15, JW Anderson creates clothes with playful, idiosyncratic details that fans love, such as the flocked poinsettia decorating this organic cotton-jersey sweatshirt – a recurring motif throughout the FW24 menswear collection inspired by Stanley Kubrick’s 1999 film, Eyes Wide Shut.

While the relaxed, sporty shape makes it a no-brainer for lounging, its luxe feel means it’s equally elevated for days out, too – a pair of beautifully tailored pants from Savile Row-trained Stella McCartney will complement perfectly. Part of our NET SUSTAIN edit of consciously crafted clothing, this tapered style is made from army-green wool-twill and has pleats from the waist to give them subtle volume. Swap your sweatshirt or T-shirt for the matching blazer on days that call for a more formal dress code, and finish with Le Monde Béryl’s polished black leather Mary Jane flats.

Talking about the weather is a favorite pastime of the British, and it’s a topic that’s almost impossible to ignore when speaking of Burberry. Made to protect you from the elements in the event of a downpour, this timeless car coat by the heritage label has been made in England from showerproof organic cotton-gabardine in a relaxed shape, and is underpinned with the same checked motif used to line its outerwear since the 1920s.

“Fall is the perfect time to layer your outfit with a trench coat, and I love the clean cut of this one by Burberry,” says NET-A-PORTER fashion editor Kristen Neillie. “For London Fashion Week, I’ll be pairing mine with these beautiful sculptural hoop earrings from London-based brand Alighieri and an oversized suede tote by DeMellier,” she adds. Part of our NET SUSTAIN edit, the latter will hold everything you need for a day of shows, meetings and networking events, including your laptop and a smaller bag to take out after dark – Victoria Beckham’s ‘Dorian’ nano style has just enough space inside for your evening essentials.
