Shopping more consciously can sometimes feel a little overwhelming, but making mindful choices (no matter how small) has never been easier, thanks to the pioneering brands in our NET SUSTAIN edit. To mark Earth Day on April 22, we’re shining a spotlight on pieces responsibly crafted using lower-impact materials that are timelessly stylish, too.

“I love the unexpected contrast of the white bib detail on Stella McCartney’s ‘Plastron’ shirt,” says NET-A-PORTER’s head of fashion content Gillian Brett. “It adds polish, while the relaxed shape means it works just as well with straight-leg jeans as it does with tailoring. What’s more, it’s been made using more considered materials, which is something I always look for when adding to my wardrobe.” The tuxedo-inspired detail is cut from 100% certified-organic cotton – grown without the use of pesticides or synthetic fertilizers – while the body is blended with 76% certified-organic silk fibers. Taking proper care of our clothes, and keeping on top of any repairs, is key to ensuring their longevity. Brett advises spritzing this shirt with a special delicates spray and airing it out after each wear to keep it fresh between washes.

Curating a more conscious wardrobe extends to what we do with the pieces we no longer wear, too. This is the perfect time of year for a closet spring-clean, and our resale service with Reflaunt allows you to easily resell your pre-loved pieces and free up space in your closet for exciting new styles, such as Loulou Studio’s ‘Donau’ blazer and matching ‘Sbiru’ pants. Made from Super 120s organic wool twill (the brand uses as many high-quality, low-impact materials as possible) and cut slightly loose for a relaxed fit, you can easily pull together an office- and evening-appropriate outfit by pairing them with Toteme’s ‘Knot’ sandals*, which are crafted using leather from certified tanneries in Italy. Detailed with a sleek square toe and crossover spaghetti straps, they’ll bring a hint of ’90s minimalism to your look. Complement their caramel shade with tonal accessories, such as Déhanche’s skinny belt, or DeMellier’s timeless ‘Vancouver’ bag, which has been handcrafted at a family-owned factory in southern Spain and will add an extra touch of refinement, thanks to its structured, vintage-inspired shape.

For a final flourish, gold jewelry is a must. Made by hand in New York using recycled materials, Laura Lombardi’s ‘Pietra’ necklace is pieced together using chunky belcher-chain links and looks effortlessly chic worn alone, or layered with other favorites in your collection. David Yurman’s ‘Cable Edge’ ring is another elegant choice and has been made using 18-karat recycled gold.

Last, but by no means least, prep your skin before you leave the house with Aesop’s Lucent Facial Concentrate – a soothing, lightweight serum that’s 100% vegan and enriched with a blend of calming essential oils.
