“My personal style has always been loosely based on the magnetic energy of the ’90s, particularly the more minimalist approach to dressing, so I am loving this renaissance,” says NET-A-PORTER’s buying editor, Abbi Minchin. “I also appreciate that it is relatively easy to replicate. At its core, it is very simple pieces paired together (straight-leg denim, a white tank or tee, a collarless jacket), all of which can be mixed and matched to form a considered capsule wardrobe. Perfect for those of us who don’t like to think too much about getting dressed,” she adds.

One of Minchin’s top picks is Toteme’s sleek ‘Garderob’ blazer. Minimally detailed with a single silver button and elongated darts at the waist, it’s a style that will work overtime in your closet all year round. Layer yours over The Row’s figure-skimming ‘Barika’ slip for evening, echoing Naomi Campbell’s ’90s red-carpet style by teaming with Aeyde’s barely-there ‘Abby’ sandals and delicate diamond jewelry.

A leopard-print coat may not immediately scream ’90s, until you look at archival images of Carolyn and Gwyneth and realise it was as integral to their wardrobe as jeans or an LBD.
