Discover De Beers’ Signature Collections Inspired By Mother Nature’s Brilliance
Synonymous with the world’s finest diamonds, De Beers is renowned for crafting classic and contemporary designs inspired by the beauty of nature – now available for the first time at NET-A-PORTER
Founded in London, with a flagship store on Old Bond Street and a presence in the most exclusive locations around the world, De Beers is the pinnacle of luxury diamond jewelry. Building on De Beers’ 130 years of expertise, the house celebrates the world’s most beautiful diamonds through creativity and craftsmanship in bold, distinctive designs. As a luxury jewelry house with a direct connection to the source, De Beers often turns to Mother Nature as its muse, creating some of the most precious interpretations of flora and fauna from the finest diamonds.
An important addition to its rich repertoire, the Portraits of Nature collection interprets the transformative symbolism of butterflies and the role they play in our ecosystem. A barometer of nature, these delicate creatures are extremely sensitive to climate variations – they're one of the first species to decline in threatened environments and one of the first to return as habitats start to recover. Throughout history, butterflies have served as a continuous inspiration to many fine jewelry houses, and the new De Beers designs feature intricate patterns of diamonds and sculptural silhouettes inspired by the deft movement of these winged beauties upon landing – effortlessly capturing how they never remain still for long.
“Every piece in the Portraits of Nature collection is an ethereal expression of the wearer’s ever-evolving personal journey
”Céline Assimon, CEO of De Beers
“Every piece in the Portraits of Nature collection is an ethereal expression of the wearer’s ever-evolving personal journey,” says Céline Assimon, CEO of De Beers. “The African Monarch butterfly is iconic within Africa, a continent close to our heart, so with this new collection we connect our clients to the De Beers Diamond Route – 500,000 acres of conservation land,” she explains. Each 18-karat gold butterfly wing is set with scintillating pavé diamonds, while a striking marquise diamond sits at the heart of each ring, earring and pendant. The collection is a sparkling tribute to more than 100 species of butterflies that inhabit the De Beers Diamond Route – part of the brand’s ‘Building Forever’ initiative – an important enterprise working towards more sustainable practices.
Another signature emblem of the house is its sleek floral motif – the hero of its Enchanted Lotus collection. The lotus flower, which blooms at sunrise each morning and retreats underwater after dark, grows in abundance in the Okavango Delta in Botswana, a country that the jewelry house has a deep connection with due to its legacy for yielding some of the world’s most magnificent diamonds. The lotus flower also embodies spiritual symbolism and is often closely associated with eternity, much like diamonds.
A modern take on an ancient motif, the Enchanted Lotus collection features round and micro pavé-set diamonds, each selected by De Beers’ experts to achieve optimum ‘fire’, ‘life’ and ‘brilliance’ – the qualities that ensure it meets their exemplary standards and results in optimum sparkle. Crafted from 18-karat white gold, these delicate pieces are perfect for stacking and layering, while their minimalist metal setting allows light to travel through each diamond to spectacular effect. From the home of diamonds, we would expect nothing less.
