A curated roundup of the best new fashion arrivals, hand-picked by our editors
That’s a wrap for Paris Fashion Week. In case you missed it, Kim Cattrall nailed her French debut in custom Balmain, Stella McCartney presented a vegan bag made using the same grapes as Veuve Clicquot champagne, and Sarah Burton bid an emotional farewell to Alexander McQueen, with Naomi Campbell shedding a tear as she closed the show. As always, Paris served up glamour, but, for editors and buyers, the end of a dazzlingly busy circuit signals a welcome return to more relaxed wardrobe favorites, such as sweater vests, jeans and fail-safe flats.
Amy Smilovic’s Tibi is always a key player for elevated staples that are as cool as they are comfy. This softly distressed tank is the perfect piece to build your look around, and it helps that it comes in the shade of the season. “I love this tomato-red style – it’s right on-trend for FW23’s color palette,” shares NET-A-PORTER’s junior fashion editor Kristen Neillie. “Plus, a knitted tank is the perfect way to bring warmth into winter dressing, while keeping your look relaxed and effortless.” Promising staying power thanks to the amount of red that also popped up at the SS24 shows, it’s easy to style between seasons, too. “I would pair it with Adidas Originals’ timeless ‘Gazelle’ sneakers in black and yellow, then throw on a dark leather jacket from Re/Done to finish the look,” she adds.
Of course, every outfit needs the perfect finishing touch and, for this look, it’s all down to the modern revival of a Y2K-era accessory, circa Tom Ford for Gucci. “The new and iconic Gucci ‘Horsebit’ shoulder bag is the sought-after accessory of fall ’23,” says Neillie. “What’s not to love about the sleek silhouette and oversized hardware?” Clutched by so many showgoers at Sabato De Sarno’s inaugural presentation, this is one item you won’t want to leave lingering in your Wish List for too long.
