Why Éterne Is The Brand To Know For Luxury Essentials
If you’re looking to invest in elevated, everyday items that will stand the test of time, look no further than LA-based Éterne – because the perfect T-shirt really does exist
Speak to any fashion stylist and they will tell you that the real heroes of a timeless wardrobe are hard-working basics. Beautiful staples are the secret behind a great outfit and that’s why fashion insiders will always recommend investing in good-quality foundational pieces – whether it’s a white T-shirt or a crew-neck sweater. When stylist Chloé Bartoli realized she was struggling to find the perfect essentials, she decided to create them herself instead – by launching her own brand, Éterne, in 2020.
As a stylist, it has always been Bartoli’s job to be obsessive about the small details, whether that be the fit or fabrication of a garment. It is this meticulous approach that she has applied to off-duty dressing as she set out to design Éterne, starting with the perfect tank top and tee. Her mission is to create items that are the building blocks behind any outfit, focusing on best-in-class fabrics and functional design. The ethos is about creating timeless everyday clothing; pieces that last forever.
Bartoli has worked with a number of celebrities throughout her styling career, so it’s no surprise that Éterne has quickly become a Hollywood staple – especially since the brand’s aesthetic is rooted in laid-back Los Angeles style. Hailey Bieber memorably wore a gray Éterne tank top with a Saint Laurent pinstripe suit on a date night with her husband, Kaia Gerber is known to pair her Éterne tank tops with high-waisted pants, and Swedish model Elsa Hosk is often spotted in the brand’s short-sleeve baby tees. Other notable fans include Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Kylie and Kendall Jenner, Selena Gomez and Emily Ratajkowski.
Éterne is an expansive roster of elevated basics – collections include tees, tanks, dresses and cashmere (the ‘Francis’ sweater, a shrunken everyday style, is a favorite of celebs). Given that the brand is all about timelessness, it will come as no surprise that the color palette is classic and neutral, such as chocolate, heather gray, black and cream.
The brand might create every essential you could ever need, but the T-shirts and tank tops remain bestsellers and are a permanent fixture in celebrities’ off-duty wardrobes. The first piece Bartoli designed was the ‘Baby Tee’, inspired by a much-loved vintage design. With a shrunken fit and short sleeves, it remains one of the bestselling core pieces in the collection, and pairs perfectly with vintage jeans and denim cut-offs.
Throughout her career in fashion, Bartoli has built up an impressive personal collection of vintage pieces, which she uses to help inform her designs. Building Éterne has been and continues to be an organic process, identifying pieces that she feels are the building blocks for a perfect wardrobe – versatile pieces that are easy to wear, chic, and will last a lifetime.
