How I pack, by Ki Eun-Se
If you’re one of Korean former actress KI EUN-SE’s many thousands of Instagram followers, you’ll already be familiar with her classic, colorful and ultra-feminine look. Here, she explains how she maintains her ultra-refined style when on vacation
Be inspired by the setting
“When I’m abroad, I like simple styles that blend in with the local surroundings. I wear a lot of pants and jeans normally, but when I travel, I tend to dress in a more feminine, casual way. On beach holidays, because I’m constantly in the water, I choose pants and skirts I can wear over my swimsuits to look active yet stylish. I like to pre-style my outfits, but I usually bring some additional items with me so I can create different looks each day, too. A great white shirt goes well with everything, and at night, depending on which restaurant we go to, I usually wear comfortable but pretty dresses.”
Accessorize liberally
“As I dress casually in simple colors when I travel, I tend to choose accessories that are bolder and more elaborate. I like to layer them to accentuate my daily outfits – you can go out for dinner in your daywear if you have bold jewels to elevate your look. I always pack hats as they add something to my otherwise pared-back travel style, as well as protecting my face from the sun. Strong sunshine is extremely harmful to our skin, so keeping my face protected is one of the most important things I consider when on the beach.”
Don’t neglect your beauty and fitness regimes
“As soon as the plane takes off I apply a moisturizing face mask because air travel can be so drying on the skin. I pack lots of masks when I travel, as I like to revitalize and moisturize my skin after long days out in the sun. I bring a variety, with different functions – such as pimple remedies and so on – so I can deal with any skin problems on the go. I also use a Foreo tool when I wash my face, as I feel it cleanses more thoroughly. I highly recommend it, especially in the summer when you’re applying lots of sunscreen to your face. I try to visit the hotel gym for 30 minutes every morning, even when I’m on vacation. If I’m by the seaside, I also enjoy walking or running along the beach.”
Pre-plan your itinerary
“I’d been thinking of visiting Greece for a long time, so when I finally did it this summer, I decided to go to Athens and Santorini, which are two of the most popular destinations, though I’d also love to go to some lesser-known islands if I return. Chartering a boat for a day and visiting places that can’t be accessed by car was my most memorable experience – I’ll never forget the sky’s golden glow as I watched the sunset from the boat. I look for travel tips on Instagram – it’s really helpful, as most posts include lively descriptions of places with video clips and pictures, so you can really get a feel for it first.”
