The beautiful simplicity of a capsule closet is what underpins Trish Wescoat Pound’s eponymous brand, TWP. Back in 2021, she launched the label with one goal: to craft the perfect white button-down shirt. Fast-forward four years, and alongside that perfect silhouette – the irreverently named ‘Next Ex’ – and a slew of other impeccably cut shirts (see ‘Next Morning’ and ‘Big Joe’), you’ll find every element of a carefully pared-back, effortlessly elegant closet, infused with a sense of classic American style. Denim, of course, is central – as the show notes for fall/winter ’25 ask: “What is American fashion without denim?”

Wescoat Pound is an industry veteran who cut her teeth at Theory three decades ago. Stints at several notable American brands, across all aspects of the fashion business – from buying and merchandising to design and creative direction – followed, after which she launched her first brand, Haute Hippie. Suffice it to say, Wescoat Pound knows what she’s doing, and in launching TWP, she comes full circle, partnering once more with Theory co-founder Andrew Rosen, who is both an investor and mentor.

I focus on versatility and utility… It’s all about what women need, and what women want

Fall/winter ’25 is the second collection that TWP has shown at New York Fashion Week, showcasing a series of 31 beautifully layered looks. “I focus on versatility and utility,” Wescoat Pound told Vogue.com of the collection. And indeed, it includes all the building blocks of a wardrobe – crisp cotton shirting, wool pants with the perfect slouch, oversized blazers, and overcoats that will shoot to the top of every editor’s wish list. But TWP is anything but basic. You’ll find impeccable cashmere knits, buttery leather, sumptuous shearling, and details that elevate classic cuts into something extra special – think fringing or contrast patterning on oversized shirts.

TWP makes layering a cinch, and in our busy, frenetic lives, there’s a quiet confidence to be found in knowing your outfit can be relied upon – whatever the weather throws at you. “It’s all about what women need, and what women want,” Wescoat Pound asserts. As a result of this ethos, TWP fabrics are as comfortable as they are beautiful, and the tailoring is both relaxed and perfectly cut. Wescoat Pound’s daughter, Jillian, is the brand’s director of styling, and along with her mother’s innate sense of style, Jillian brings a dynamic freshness to the presentation of the pieces.

Wescoat Pound finds inspiration in menswear silhouettes to create fresh iterations of the pieces we’ve all turned to for years. The collection is shot through with a sense that we shouldn’t take clothing too seriously. “You might think this spectacular dress is meant for evening,” read the show notes, “but Trish wants you to throw one of her iconic sweaters over it… and go out to face the world.” A great philosophy to live by.
