When it comes to vacation destinations, few are more iconic than the Hamptons – the scattering of exclusive seaside villages and towns on Long Island’s South Fork. Known for windswept white-sand beaches and a crisp light that has inspired artists including Jackson Pollock, Lee Krasner and contemporary names such as Cassi Namoda, the Hamptons’ natural beauty is bested only by its legendary social scene. Any stint in the Hamptons is punctuated by leisurely lunches, candlelit dinners and glamorous parties, which all ensure guaranteed fun but can also make packing particularly tricky.

The secret to getting your sartorial selection just right is by opting for versatile pieces that can be adapted to work for any occasion by switching up just a few accessories. Take Altuzarra’s romantic cotton sun dress: classic yet contemporary, with delicate ruched details that create a subtle hourglass silhouette. When finished with Gabriela Hearst’s minimal leather sandals, a luxe beach bag and a refined wide-brimmed hat, it makes for an eternally stylish daytime look. After dark, you can elevate your outfit in an instant with barely-there heels and chunky gold jewels, so that you’ll be ready for wherever the night takes you.

Of course, no vacation closet is complete without ultra-flattering swimwear, an often elusive essential. Which is why, when Peony’s latest designs dropped on NET-A-PORTER this week, acting senior fashion features editor Megan Logue was quick to add one of the brand’s exquisitely constructed bikinis to her arsenal.

“Combining impeccable eco-credentials with a commitment to elegant aesthetics, Australian beachwear brand Peony has quickly amassed a cult following of fashion insiders – including actor and singer Olivia Rogrido and tastemaker Camille Charrière – since its launch in 2019. This season, as ever, the label’s swimwear strikes the perfect balance between pretty and practical. Case in point is the label’s high-waisted, one-shouldered bikini. Cast in timeless gingham, this chic two-piece is a fail-safe addition to any vacation capsule. If I do manage to get away this summer (fingers crossed!), I’ll be styling the structured top with denim cut-offs and layering this playful two-piece under chic kaftans and shirts for maximum style mileage.”
