“Effortless, beachy hair tends to define my summer look, but it’s a style you needn’t give up for fall. If you have naturally straight hair that doesn’t hold a curl, like mine, product is the only way to create that ‘undone’ look. Switch up your shampoo and conditioner for Sachajuan’s Ocean Mist range to boost volume at the roots. I prefer casual, fresh-from-the-sea waves – the kind you usually only get after swimming in the ocean – and LA-based Playa Beauty’s Endless Summer Spray uses Pacific sea salts from Southern California to mimic exactly this. Shelby Wild (the founder, and a true surfer chick), told me that the best way to use it is to spray it from roots to ends and scrunch it into the hair before blasting it with a blow dryer to activate the ingredients. You’re left with authentic-looking, Cali-girl hair with lots of movement and texture. Plus, the all-natural formula doesn’t leave hair feeling sticky or crunchy.”

“I love to express myself through makeup, and it’s how I maintain my positive post-vacation mood. I love to use colored eyeliner and mascara in blues and purples, which work brilliant against dark skin and brown eyes. It sounds bold, but there are ways to wear color that doesn’t feel too overpowering: try wearing two coats of your usual black mascara and then adding a bold or bright shade to the tips of the upper lashes. The Marc Jacobs O!Mega Lash Volumizing Mascara in Think Ink is a beautiful deep shade of blue and enhances any eye color. To make my eyes look bigger and brighter, I love applying the Kjaer Weis Eye Pencil in Purple. It really deepens the color of my eyes and is a fresher, lighter alternative to using a heavy black kohl liner.”

“I abide by three failsafe rules when it comes to preserving my summer tan after I return home from vacation. First, as tempting as it is, try to avoid taking long baths or hot showers, as these can dehydrate skin. Next, though it may sound counterintuitive, a light exfoliation using Aesop Redemption Body Scrub can refresh any tan, as it removes dulling dead skin cells – but avoid exfoliators with glycolic and salicylic acid that will cause your tan to fade faster. Finally, and most importantly, moisturize twice daily using a cream that’s rich in hydration but lightweight in texture, like Make Beauty Succulent Skin Gel: this reduces tan break-up (whether faux or real), giving you a longer-lasting color that fades more evenly. For a finishing touch, intensify a tan with Charlotte Tilbury Supermodel Body, which doubles as both a tan enhancer and toning treatment – roll down legs and arms and blend out.”
