Elevate boudoir dressing with the label’s print-perfect ‘Queenie’ robe

A decade ago, Olivia von Halle had a eureka moment. While working as a trend forecaster and luxury brand consultant, she longed to slip into the kind of luxe pajamas that would make her look and feel opulent at the end of a busy day. So, inspired by the chic lounging separates worn by Coco Chanel in the ’20s, she had her dream pair of PJs custom-made from luxurious silk – and a business idea soon bloomed into an eponymous line of luxury loungewear showcased at 2011’s London Fashion Week. Rather aptly, the industry fell hard for von Halle’s sumptuous sleepwear overnight.

Still crafted from magnificent silks adorned with richly detailed, bespoke prints, today’s perfectly draped pieces continue to blur the lines between nightwear and ready-to-wear, adding a novel twist to the modern boudoir-dressing trend. Mastering night-to-day decadence, shirts can be worn with jeans for a sophisticated day look, while full sets can be styled with heels for an effortlessly elegant evening aesthetic.

The pieces evoke a sense of all-hours elegance that makes you long for a day spent luxuriating
Inspired by the drama of ballet and baroque beauty of Verona, The Depths of Desire collection wouldn’t be complete without a covetable velvet slipper

Driven by her passion for travel and a desire for uncompromising luxury, von Halle has expanded over the years to create a full loungewear offering, with robes, nightshirts, eye masks, slippers and even cashmere tracksuits garnering an A-list following along the way. Case in point: her iconic ‘Missy’ tracksuit can be found in the closets of everyone from Rihanna and Jennifer Lopez to Gigi and Bella Hadid.

Now, for Resort 2022, the label unveils The Depths of Desire collection, which is inspired by the beauty of ballet and the baroque, operatic style of Verona, as well as fairy tales and forbidden love. According to the collection notes, this season’s prints have been informed by “motifs, magic and metamorphoses of transcendent romances of both stage and screen”. In short, the pieces evoke a sense of all-hours elegance that makes you long for a day spent luxuriating.

Olivia von Halle’s luxe, languid ‘Coco’ pajamas in a chic emerald colorway pay homage to the designer’s perennial muse, Coco Chanel

Standouts from the capsule include a timeless set of ‘Coco’ pajamas (named, of course, as an ode to von Halle’s perennial muse), which pop in the house’s emerald-green ‘Evergreen’ hue. Cut from silk-satin, expertly edged in white, handmade piping, and finished with mother-of-pearl buttons, this divine two-piece can be saved for relaxing in or styled with mules for an evening look that is pure comfort and joy. If you’re staying in, pair with the playful velvet, feather-trimmed slippers, and envelop yourself in one of the aptly named ‘Queenie’ robes. Cut from smooth, 19-momme silk (the most luxurious weight imaginable), they boast a relaxed silhouette that can be cinched in at the waist with a wide sash.

“I’ve long loved the hyperbolic fashion and empowered glamour of yesteryear; the wardrobe of an F. Scott Fitzgerald novel, with an unexpected twist,” von Halle states – and it is impossible not to feel transported to a decadent, bygone era when you slip into her luxurious loungewear. As a result, each piece makes the perfect gift for loved ones, so why not treat your nearest and dearest during the holidays – or spoil yourself with a little something special under the tree this season? After all, a stylish excuse for some well-deserved downtime is exactly what this year’s festivities call for.
