The body finishers
“My party prep is generally pretty natural, so skin is always my main focus, especially when it comes to the body. I start in the shower with a thorough exfoliation to buff everything smooth, then follow with a deeply hydrating body wash to get my skin soft, plumped and perfectly prepped for whatever I’m wearing that night. The real star of my routine, though, is Agent Nateur’s Body (Balm) Ageless Body Treatment Crème. I warm it up in my hands and work it over my arms, legs and décolletage for that healthy, lit-from-within sheen. If I’m showing a bit more skin, I’ll tap on a little extra down my shins and across the tops of my shoulders so that it catches the light beautifully. I usually keep my hair and makeup quite minimal, so that subtle sheen gives me just the right pop of glam without ever feeling overdone, which is exactly how I like to party.” Brigitte Chartrand, chief buying and merchandising officer
The glow-getters
“As a mother of two young children, ‘glam’ isn’t really a word in my daily repertoire right now. Nights out are minimal, so on the rare occasion I do leave the house in the evening, it’s in a whirlwind. While I’m currently forgoing nails, bold eyes or lips, allowing time to create a flawless, glowing complexion really makes me feel more like myself. Victoria Beckham Beauty’s Victoria Beckham by Augustinus Bader Cell Rejuvenating Priming Moisturizer revives my skin and makes it look like I’ve had the best night’s sleep. Part skincare, part makeup, its combination of actives and peptides ensures my complexion looks and feels impressively plumped. Then, I mix a pipette of Dr. Barbara Sturm’s Glow Drops into whatever tinted moisturizer I can find… et voilà! It’s not much, but I feel like a new woman afterwards and my complexion is transformed. I really tap and massage the products into my skin, too, giving myself a mini facial that helps to sculpt the face while also allowing me five precious minutes of me-time.” Alice Casely-Hayford, content director
The party-hair heroes (and inky eyeliner hack)
“My glam routine always starts with hair because it’s the trickiest. I have long, fine hair (but a lot of it) and I usually wear it down, so real volume is hard to achieve. If I have time to wash it, I follow a tip I got from Sienna Miller’s hairstylist and skip conditioner at the roots. I normally use it everywhere, but keeping the roots free prevents flatness. My forever shampoo is Oribe’s Gold Lust because it’s hydrating enough that I don’t miss not having conditioner at my roots. For even more lift, I’ll rough-dry my hair upside down before quickly tonging the ends. When I’m rushed, I go straight to dry shampoo. I massage it into my roots, brush it out and instantly get that airy texture and volume. K18’s Airwash is my current favorite – it’s a non-aerosol format but still great at absorbing oil and odor while adding light grit. After hair, it’s all about my eyes: sultry black liner and lots of mascara. I start with liquid liner at the corners for extra staying power and to guarantee an inky black shade. I then layer Westman Atelier’s Eye Love You Eye Pencil in Kohl Noir over top, smudge it, then add multiple coats of Guerlain’s Mad Eyes buildable mascara. Glowing skin and a glossy lip finish the look.” Malena Harbers, beauty editor
The lip and cheek essentials
“When I’m getting ready in a hurry, I need products that work hard for me, not the other way around. With small children and very little time, I rely on multitasking makeup sticks to do the heavy lifting. I’ll tap a creamy all-in-one – like Westman Atelier’s Lit Up Highlight Stick in Petal, a nude rose shade – onto my cheeks, lips and even eyes for an instant wash of color that looks effortlessly polished. Then I add a little bronzer as a soft contour (Charlotte Tilbury’s Airbrush Flawless Finish is my go-to), sweeping it under my cheekbones, along my hairline and down the sides of my nose for a quick sculpting effect. The real key is to blend, blend, blend so there are zero lines, just a flawless, completely seamless finish that makes it look like I spent ages getting ready – even when I absolutely didn’t.” Charlotte Blazeby, head of fashion styling
The skincare saviors
“As someone who deals with rosacea and chronically dry skin, I’ve learned that looking party-ready actually starts with keeping my complexion calm and comfortable. During party season, when late nights and central heating wreak havoc, I make my skin an even bigger priority. I stick religiously to products that are tried, tested and genuinely gentle enough for sensitive skin; this is not the time to experiment with anything new. Wearing SPF is absolutely non-negotiable for me – no matter whether it’s blazing summer or the middle of winter, it’s the one step that keeps irritation at bay and helps my skin stay even-toned. I’ve also found that keeping my routine simple and consistent is what truly allows my skin to stay healthy, hydrated and glowy, so I can focus on enjoying the night rather than worrying about flare-ups.” Viktorija Tomasevic, shopping editor
