Nikki Reed’s AM/PM routine

Actress and dedicated beauty and wellness aficionado Nikki Reed may be best known for being part of the Twilight alumni, but her latest endeavor – socially conscious jewelry, beauty and accessories brand BaYou with Love – is her passion project. Here’s how she starts and ends her day…

Beauty

IN THE MORNING

When I wake up…

…I always try and stretch, even if it’s only for two minutes. I also walk my daughter around the house in LA and open all the windows so that we can say good morning to the sun together.

My morning smoothie includes…

…plant protein chlorella and the adaptogenic mushrooms chaga and reishi, and I have a machine that makes fresh cashew milk in less than 30 seconds. I don’t have time to squeeze my own milk with a nut bag anymore, so that thing has saved my life!

I get a quick workout in…

…when I first wake up. That followed by a superfast 20-second shower and a cup of tea makes the whole day better!

I’m obsessed with oils…

…Carrot-seed oil is one of my favorites and a little goes a long way. I recently started dry-brushing my face in the morning when I wake up. I am also a sucker for a homemade manuka honey face mask.

I make my own body scrubs…

…I like to get creative and make up my own recipes. I use coffee, salt, oil and essential oils like peppermint, which really wakes up the body.

IN THE EVENING

When I work late…

…I love to wear a face mask in front of my computer. I usually make them myself and mix up whatever is in my smoothie cupboard. Honey, pearl, chlorella… Whatever is in front of me.

I love to journal…

…Writing is my first love. It’s the greatest form of therapy and reflection for me. I feel accomplished when I’ve been able to communicate and reflect with a piece of paper.

I took a class on transcendental meditation

…two years ago and it was life-changing. I used to meditate twice a day, but with a newborn baby I haven’t been as disciplined in the last year. When I do [meditate], even if it’s for five minutes, I feel great.

On my bedside table…

…is always a glass of room-temperature water for when I wake up. I also have a stack of books because lately I’ve been reading more than one book at a time: currently I'm working through Isn't It Pretty to Think So? by Nick Miller and How Proust Can Change Your Life by Alain de Botton. I have my glasses, a baby monitor, and my favorite Baeo Bare Face Soothing Face Stick.

If I’m wired but tired…

…I use magnesium oil coupled with a hot calming tea like passionflower or chamomile, and a little lavender spray. Epsom salts are big in my house and I also love ayurvedic oils after a shower. Reading is the best way to calm my mind, so I always go to sleep with a book.
