Most Wanted
A curated roundup of the best new fashion arrivals, hand-picked by our editors
“As we look towards 2024 and start wrapping up the festivities, my focus is falling on comfort – not only in my personal life and the (very few) plans I have booked over the break, but also within my wardrobe,” shares NET-A-PORTER’s junior market editor Abbi Minchin. In search of comfort that doesn’t compromise on style, Minchin’s discerning eye has been caught by a particularly snuggly winter layer from an influencer-approved brand. “One piece that’s high on my wish list right now is The Frankie Shop’s ‘Nikola’ coat,” she says. “Its ankle-grazing length, wool-and-cashmere fabrication and oversized fit make it not only a great option for cold temperatures, but also a chic one.”
Despite noting that The Frankie Shop’s double-breasted trench style will “make any outfit, no matter what you have on underneath”, Minchin has the perfect wear-on-repeat fashion formula in mind. “For long walks and spending some quality time at home, I’ll be slipping into cozy knitwear from Khaite, paired with leggings and sneakers or boots.” Forward-thinking brand Another Tomorrow has designed some of the softest black leggings around, thanks to the high percentage of Lenzing™ Lyocell in the blend (they’re also part of our NET SUSTAIN edit of consciously crafted fashion), while Toteme’s ‘The Riding’ boots are consciously crafted to support responsible leather manufacturing through the Leather Working Group. Add the black or chocolate-brown pair to your NET-A-PORTER shopping bag, safe in the knowledge that you’ll still be reaching for them in years to come.
All that remains are accessories, and the choices are endless thanks to the way a neutral trench coat provides a whole host of styling possibilities. Following the lead of several guests and tastemakers spotted at the spring/summer ’24 shows, you could add a trending touch of red to your outfit with Ferragamo’s ‘Fiamma’ leather shoulder bag before deciding on jewels. “Whether you sway towards cool silver or warm-gold jewelry (or both), camel-colored outerwear complements everything,” reveals Minchin. Made from a combination of 14-karat white and yellow gold, Lauren Rubinski’s jumbo-sized necklace saves you the trouble of finding mixed metals that work seamlessly together. If, however, you are planning to remain faithful to this season’s ongoing love affair with sophisticated silver jewelry, make Cartier’s diamond-dotted ‘Tank Française’ watch your new everyday signature. First released in 1996, the now-iconic timepiece found its way into Princess Diana’s collection and has remained a symbol of enduring elegance ever since.
The perfect finishing touch? “Your favorite fragrance,” says Minchin, and if you’re not planning on leaving the house anytime soon, spritz something sweet and refreshing in your chill-out zone instead. In developing Jonathan Anderson’s vision of being transported to a veg-filled garden, in-house perfumer Núria Cruelles ensured Loewe Home Scents’ spray captured the essence of freshly picked green tomato leaves.
