A curated roundup of the best new fashion arrivals, hand-picked by our editors
Copenhagen Fashion Week wraps today, drawing to a close a celebration of forward-thinking Nordic talent, committed to consciously crafted fashion. Aside from the unmissable shows on the schedule (including NET SUSTAIN brand Rotate Birger Christensen, which debuted its FW24 collection yesterday), CPHFW is the place to spot the coolest street style – and this season’s attendees did not disappoint.
Maybe it’s the captivating waterfront townhouses of Nyhavn, the contemporary art galleries, or the city’s energized culinary scene, but there’s an undeniable magic to the Danish capital that unlocks the freedom to dress in color. While red remained a hot favorite with the likes of Thora Valdimarsdottir (who stepped out earlier in the week in a shiny scarlet skirt, teamed with matching Ferragamo heels and fluffy layers, in a nod to fashion’s viral ‘mob wife’ trend), one other key shade gave red a run for its money in the popularity stakes – and that was green.
Good news: introducing verdant hues to your wardrobe is easy – you could start with accessories, such as a green bag, for example. And NET-A-PORTER’s fashion editor Charlotte Blazeby has another idea for an effortless way to wear green that is simple to get on board with. “For me, clothes need to feel really easy and relaxed this season – and Loewe’s shirt ticks all the right boxes, with its nonchalant fit and no-fuss layered design,” she says. “The vibrancy of the grass-green is so mood-boosting that it promises to lift any outfit,” Blazeby adds – though she plans on teaming hers with classic blue jeans.
Always a go-to for seriously great denim, Agolde is where you’ll find an ideal match. “I would team the shirt with Agolde’s ’90s-inspired straight-leg jeans because I think the wash of the organic denim is the perfect pairing – it’s light, nostalgic and super-wearable,” says Blazeby, noting that a neutral blazer and tonal accessories would be her first choice if she needed to dress the look up a little. Tailored with 55% recycled polyester in the blend, Toteme’s blazer has a loose double-breasted silhouette and comes in a versatile beige shade that will complement both Loewe’s ‘Puzzle Fold’ canvas tote and Jil Sander’s cream slingback pumps.
When it comes to finishing touches, gold jewelry is just the thing to bring some extra warmth and polish. Made by artisans in downtown LA, Sophie Buhai’s ‘Bialy’ earrings are sculpted into hinged hoops from glossy gold vermeil, while Jennifer Meyer’s ‘Double Dome’ chain bracelet is handcrafted from 18-karat gold and will look chic layered over the cuffs of your shirt, or stacked next to a timeless watch. Last but not least, take a cue from the tastemakers who wouldn’t be seen spotted strolling around Copenhagen without sunglasses on – no matter how cloudy it might be. Made from tortoiseshell acetate, Bottega Veneta Eyewear’s ‘Injection’ sunglasses have an angular cat-eye shape, plus the Italian brand’s signature gold-tone bars at each arm.
